AFter downloading big selections of free LUTs from G'MIC I created a personal folder and routed DT to it. There are differences off the bat between default "display referred", "scene referred" and "none" (scene referred without launching some modules.)Ģ. I've been using/learning Darktable since version 3.x came out. So for now my compromise with Free/Open source apps is to use both Filmulator and darktable at different stages of the workflow on each image. While these do teh basic photo development very well, the photo editing features are not extensive, typically I'd have to also send the initial image from these apps to darktable for any further editingĪ bit surprised that with one minor exception that is ok and meets the basic image conversion from raw to a good enough standard - Filmulator, any further editing needs me to export to a Tiff file and continue editing in darktable or GIMP (which is a bit of a hassle having to change tools to complete the edit of an image. I do have options, like the free Adobe Photoshop Express, and my cameras native software, or Capture One express for my camera brand. When a raw photo editor/processor starts you off with a poor version of the image of the raw file, it is discouraging and difficult to be well motivated to improve this any further. Similar issues, initial image of raw fle is poor and there is very little you can do to improve it. It takes too much work to tweak the raw file to get to a decent image, which you can then go on to edit aesthetically.Īlso tried raw therapee. Not happy with the lack of an initial well presented image from the raw file. Spent a whole year trying to make darktable work for me. My platform is Windows 10, on Intel x86/圆4 processors.
